This is one of the most common questions that we face very often. Supposedly for the n-th time I’m giving this answer. Let’s start with explaining web hosting first followed by explaining email hosting.

Web Hosting is an essential step of making the content in your website domain live. It essentially is a server space where all content and data of your website lives. Suppose, you have a website with domain name www. domainname .com. Now, a user types your website’s domain name in his or her web browser. Once the person enters the domain name in the browser, he/she is redirected to a online server, where your website’s content are hosted. The requested information by the user is fetched from the server and server to the user. A web hosting server basically stores source files of a website.

Email hosting also uses server space for storing emails of a person. It is used to send and receive emails. Suppose, you have a business email you@domainname .com. A email server hosting stores emails that you send others or others send you.

Though the concepts of web hosting and email hosting are same, the actual process through which it takes place is different. Whether it is the protocol or the software, both are different in web and email hosting.
