One has to follow certain steps to configure basic initial setting of WHM in either VPS or dedicated server.

Step 1-WHM /cPanel license agreement.

One has to click on “I agree/Go to step 2’ button after going carefully through the license agreement given by cPanel.

Step 2- Setting up Networking

One should enable at least one option for server updates alert in “Communication method” section. The ways for server updates alert can be entered in “Contact information” section. The desired hostname for VPS or dedicated server should be entered in “Hostname section”. cPanel’s hostname format is “name.domain.tld” DNS resolvers can be added in “Resolvers” section for server’s outgoing DNS quarries. One should enter the device by default in the “Main Network” section.

Step 3- Setting up IP address

One can easily skip the step by clicking on default setting option.

Step 4- Nameserver program

Here the nameserver program to be used on the server must be specified. cPanel gives recommendations for most suitable nameserver. The preferred private nameserver should be entered now. BIND helps if there is any confusion. IP address should be entered next. Now, one has to wait for the WHM to take to the next step.

Step 5- Opted Services

Selection of FTP and mail programs can be done by enabling cPHulk module. cPHulk also provides security to the server. “Perl” environment can be opted for CGI applications and scripts.

Step 6- Quotas of Disc space

Disc space tracking system should be installed for tracking disc space of cPanel accounts.

Now, clicking on “Finish setup wizard” will redirect to WHM main menu.

Job done!
