The D-DoS (distributed denial of services) attacks has been a major concern and several big businesses have been affected. The attacks create traffic congestion in your space and slows down your computer to such an extent that it succumbs to the pressure crashing and website becoming unavailable to your clients. The attacks generally are aimed at disrupting the services of an established business with good traffic.
The in-house protection and security is not sufficient. An attack on a single customer can spread across the entire data center
where the client is hosted and affect all the businesses sharing the infrastructure. By choking the network bandwidth with bots and traffic the entire data center can go offline. This is resulting in businesses turning to the cloud providers for strategies and solutions.
One defensive step being taken is black-hole routing. Here the provider blocks all the packets that are directed towards the domain by blacklisting the IP address
under attack. However, this results in all accounts sharing the server being blocked and genuine traffic to a site being affected.
