Data centers are generally highly redundant in their infrastructure. The data enter providers offer multiple fiber backbone connections of 10GBPS. When you talk of 1GBPS, it does not mean you get 1GBPS throughout the year 24x7. The network traffic operates in bursts and in general it runs on the presumption that not every user will consume full bandwidth being offered all the time.

Most of the network users are on the TCP/IP protocol (transmission control protocol/ internet protocol) where the network starts slow and gradually gains speed. if the data communication is low, you will not reach the 1GBPS speed and your work will be done with a smaller consumption. Thus you can say the TCP/IP protocol will never exhaust the bandwidth each and every time you communicate i.e. it is not 1GBPS speed all the time. It is more so if the communication is within a closer distance i.ee within the same country you may be able to manage with lower capacity speed. So the providers are able to manage their gigabyte speed over the internet. Even if they provide 1GBPS, you will not be requiring 1GBPS all the time.
