In simple words, cloud migration is moving of data, email, software or applications on cloud hosting so that it can be accessible from all across the globe.

Cloud server or hosting offers a wide range of benefits, such as –

1. Enhanced Server Uptime

The uptime of server is directly proportional to website’s performance. Cloud hosting offers increased uptime of network and also guarantees no failure. In this interconnected server system, in case one server is not able to take the request, then other one will take the failed server’ workload by default.

However, in traditional hosting, set up of single server risks downtime and hardware failure for the applications and website.

2. Pay Per Utilization of Resources

In cloud computing, you need not to worry about capital expenditure and there is no need to make an investment in the infrastructure. In addition, OPEX is less too as you only have to pay as per the utilization of services/resources.

Though, in other hosting methods, you have to pay fixed amount for services, irrespective of their utilization.

3. Maximum Security

In traditional hosting method, you need to share CPU and resources with other sites on a same server or even need to maintain private dedicated server in order to save the information which costs very high.

In cloud hosting, there is an infrastructure that secures the data at different levels - application, physical security, network, and data. The hosting providers make sure safety of data via the identity management of customer, storage segregation, encrypted solutions, backup recoveries and firewalls.

4. Scalability

Instant resources’ allocation with constant needs of site is simple and easy with cloud hosting. It permits accounts and sites to reduce or add resources, such as storage, RAM and bandwidth from various resources maintained by multiple servers.

While in the setup of traditional hosting, there are rigid specifications and limited resources. Therefore, you can’t ramp up resources instantly on server when the requirement comes for same.
