While shared hosting can be called the first step in hosting solutions, dedicated hosting call be called the last or next to last. Shared hosting is the least expensive option out there in hosting solutions while dedicated hosting is among the most expensive. In shared hosting, the client has to share the resources of the host server with all the other accounts on it. If there is a spike in the traffic of any single website, all the rest will suffer slowdown in their performance. In dedicated hosting, the entire server and its resources are allocated to a single account. This means “unlimited” bandwidth and disk space. It is an excellent option for websites that are either experiencing or expecting to see massive traffic surges. While expensive, there is enhanced security and performance with this type of hosting solution. Also, the client receives full control of the server, which means that they can customize the environment according to the needs of their business.
