When you opt for colocation hosting, you are saving on power, bandwidth, security, and other data center infrastructure which otherwise can run into high figures at your in-house facility. Although you move IT to a third-party web hosting provider. However, you still are in control to decide what hardware you want for your server. When you are making your hardware choice you must take the following factors into consideration:

1 Keep an eye on your present traffic and the increase since the time of inception of your business. You must ensure there is sufficient space to manage the increase that you anticipate.

2. Consider your future expansion plans. The hardware you install must be in accordance with the future needs. There should be enough room to handle sudden traffic spikes.

3. The purpose of moving to a colocation facility is for its cost-effectiveness. The colocation providers charge you for the floor space so you must buy your hardware that occupies lesser space. You may buy an expensive hardware and install if it occupies lesser space. It is a one-time investment as against monthly operation costs and the former option is more viable.
